The latest players in the could music area are Amazon, Apple and Google. They’re all very big names and let’s hope that they can hold their grounds. Currently, with significant differences between them, they all allow users to access their music library from the cloud. Each implementation is different and each approached the music industry giants in their respective ways. All this struggle and light treading is because it’s easier to get the Pope to talk about abortion then to get an acceptable legitimate answer as to whether users can legally stream copyrighted music from the interwebs let alone share it or move it around.
Currently MP3tunes offers a free 2GB online storage account with the option of asking for a free 10GB upgrade via invitation only. They Premium offer involves 50GB, 100GB and 200GB lockers for $39.95, $74.95 and $139.95 respectively, yearly payments. But the great advantage of MP3tunes is its incredible cross platform support for streaming and syncing thanks to its open API. As you can see below, MP3tunes has been available for a while on numerous platforms, not only Windows, Mac and Linux.
It is this reporter’s wish that MP3tunes prospers. It's the dawn of a new web service: Cloud Music, streaming, syncing and backing up with no frills or thrills of copyright infringement or service submission. We’ve had the technology and demand for this for a while now, it’s the record companies that have been holding us down. But no more!
I want to personally thank you for being a loyal MP3tunes user who has stood by the company during our long legal battle with EMI - I really appreciate your support. On Monday, August 22nd, a ruling was published in the EMI v MP3tunes case and it is definitely a victory for cloud music and MP3tunes. The Judge OKed our core business of storing and playing music in our cloud-based service.
We've always operated MP3tunes in a responsible manner which is why the Judge found that "MP3tunes did not promote infringement" and has protection under the DMCA as a service provider. Few companies have been able to stand up to the withering record labels attack and get rulings from the court on key issues relevant to the future of the internet music. This 29-page ruling will set new precedent if it remains standing (If you're interested in my detailed analysis or want to read the decision for yourself, click here). So the good news for you is we don't anticipate any changes to how your MP3tunes locker operates.
We're committed to keep improving your music experience. MP3tunes remains the ONLY locker with connections to internet radios and an open API as well the ability to sync your music down to your PC. Here's a few more links of ways to get more value from your locker:
